The word of the Lord…

We focus quite a bit of time on reading the Word of God, praying, fellowshipping with others over our devotions, seeking counsel and discussion, allowing ourselves the opportunity to learn, to teach, to stretch…

…in all that time, do we take time to listen to God?

Most of the time we just do not have time, most of us would rather not – sounds at best, a mystical experience.

What would He say?  Would it be like a prophecy?

Would it be like thunder such as the time when He announced His favour over Jesus as He came up from the water of baptism or would it be a still small voice like the one Elijah heard in the cave?

Would it come in the form of a dream or vision or trance like Peter experienced?

Does God even speak personally to us today?

It would be a shame for anyone to say that – God has always spoken, God loves fellowship more than we do, He puts that yearning in our hearts to spend time with Him – you know, that feeling, very weak feeling that is easily tossed aside for television, sports, friends etc – that is God talking, calling, wanting to spend time with you.

Next time you decide to put some time aside for Him, take the Word, ask God to reveal Himself to you and after Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (ACTS) take time to Listen – something tells me you will never be the same.
